How to choose AI use cases that actually pay back

Start from the work, not the model

List the tasks where people read, write, classify or search large amounts of text or data. Those are where today’s AI helps most.

Score each idea on four things

1. Volume — how often the task happens
2. Value — time or cost saved per occurrence
3. Data readiness — do examples exist, and can we use them?
4. Risk — what happens when the output is wrong?

Pilot the top two

Pick two ideas with high volume, clear value and manageable risk. Define success up front, run them with real users for four weeks, and decide with data.
